A few months’ ago the club changed its logo from the Ruby Red Dahlia photo to a modern logo representative of all the flora of our area.  Elliott Hind, son of our Treasurer Liz Hind, produced a very fitting and attractive logo that we now proudly display on all our correspondence and webpage.  Additionally Morgan Mackey business Thrive Promotional organized our speaker gift water bottles printed with our logo.  Our co-President formally thanked both Elliot and Morgan for their efforts.

This month’s Flora of the Month was introduced by Maree Pfisterer:

• Lesley Player – Dombeya
• Julia Bambery – Catasetum fredclarkeara After Dark “Black’ Pearl. An orchid with a nearly black flower.  Leafless in winter commencing new growth in spring.
• Carol Lea – Camellia japonica “Bob Hope”.
• Suzie Johnson – Zig Zag Wattle, a winter flowering wattle. A vase of flowers showing winter colour in her garden various Bougainvillea, Poisettia, Salvia Dark Pink, Euhorbia leucocephala, Brazillian Red Cloak Megaskepasma erythrochlamys.
• Fay Bogg – Heliconia ‘Red Christmas’
• Steven Wedd – A range of Anthuriums
• Hazel Sowerby – Impatiens grandis, a rare and endangered plant in it native habitate from Sth India to Sri Lanka.
• Luke Sansom – Salvia Pink Icicle
• Karen Bono – a variety of Aloes – Big Red, Candelabra and Baby Yellow.

Karen Bono introduced our Guest Speaker segment with Nicki Walker from WE Waste who spoke about recycling and food composting.
