It was so wonderful to wander Mary Hendy’s garden on a sunny day after weeks and weeks of rain. Pure delight.
Mary’s 5 acre garden was wonderful in verdant green with splashes of vibrant colours – the purple blooms of the blue ginger, red and yellow hanging flowers of the heliconias, and many more. Quite a few of us were taken with the cascading bunches of purple seeds from the native purple bush (leaf?) . Plant-filled ponds were spied either side of the house – actually flowing from one side to the other beneath the house. An extensive vegetable patch with a small orchard and wandering paths throughout.
